
January 29: “Seminar on Towards a Knowledge Economy in Thailand” at the Grand Hyatt Erawan, Bangkok. This seminar was co-organized by the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) and the World Bank. It aimed to share experience on building a knowledge-based Economy in light of changing regional and global trends.
Keynote speakers and panel discussants during this seminar included Dr. Shahid Yusuf, a World Bank Economic Adviser, and the team leader of the World Bank-Japan study on East Asia’s urban economies, Dr. Chang Wan Jan, Senior Researcher Fellow, Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training, Dr. Sakarindr Bhumiratana, the President of NSTDA, Assof. Prof. Apinetr Unakul, a lecturer from KMIT Lardkrabang, and Dr. Somchai Jitsuchon, the Research Director from TDRI.
The event was co-chaired by Mr.Arkom Termpitayapaisith, Deputy Secretary–General, NESDB, and Dr. Kazi Matin, World Bank Lead Economist. About 150 participants from government agencies, international organizations and civil society organizations, including the news media, participated in the seminar.
